UNILAG Releases Revised 2025/2026 Academic Calendar, Sets Structured Timeline for Lectures, Exams and Senate Activities

The updated schedule provides a structured roadmap for registration, lectures, examinations, and key institutional activities across both semesters.
The university said the revised calendar is designed to improve academic coordination, strengthen administrative efficiency, and ensure smoother delivery of academic programmes.
First Semester Timeline
The session is expected to commence with online registration for returning students on Monday, October 27, 2025, while full academic activities are scheduled to begin with resumption on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Lectures for the first semester will run from November 3 to December 19, 2025, covering approximately seven weeks. Registration of courses is expected to close on December 19, 2025.
Fresh students will participate in an orientation programme scheduled for December 11 to December 21, 2025, while the matriculation ceremony will hold on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Course registration editing will run from December 22, 2025 to January 4, 2026, a period that coincides with the Christmas and New Year break.
Academic activities resume on January 5, 2026, followed by the Convocation Lecture on January 19, 2026. Convocation ceremonies are scheduled to hold from January 20 to January 22, 2026.
First semester lectures are expected to end on Friday, February 27, 2026, after 14 weeks of academic activity.

This will be followed by a lecture-free week and GST examinations from March 2 to March 6, 2026, while undergraduate examinations across faculties will run from March 9 to April 2, 2026.
Core examinations in the Faculty of Education are scheduled for April 7 to April 11, 2026.
The first semester officially ends on Saturday, April 11, 2026, when students are expected to vacate halls of residence. The second semester registration portal also opens the same day.
A two-week break is scheduled from April 13 to April 25, 2026, ahead of second semester resumption.
Second Semester Timeline
Online registration for the second semester begins on Monday, April 13, 2026, while lectures commence on Monday, April 27, 2026.
Hall Week is scheduled for May 4 to May 9, 2026, with course registration closing on May 24, 2026.
Editing of registered courses will take place from June 8 to June 21, 2026, while Faculty Week is slated for July 20 to July 26, 2026, ahead of the conclusion of lectures.
Second semester lectures will end on Friday, July 31, 2026, followed by a lecture-free week and GST examinations from August 3 to August 7, 2026.
Undergraduate examinations will run from August 10 to August 29, 2026, while core examinations in the Faculty of Education are scheduled for August 31 to September 4, 2026.
The second semester ends on September 4, 2026, when students are expected to vacate university hostels.
Post-Examination and Administrative Activities
Consideration of results by the Board of Examiners is expected to begin on September 22, 2026, with Senate consideration of results scheduled for September 30, 2026.
The Diplomatic Language Institute (DLI) programme is set to run from August 31 to September 26, 2026, while online registration for the next academic session is expected to commence earlier in the cycle as part of administrative alignment.
The proposed resumption date for the 2026/2027 academic session has been fixed for Monday, October 19, 2026.
Standing Institutional Activities
UNILAG also confirmed the continuity of its statutory academic programmes, including Faculty Board meetings held on the second Wednesday of every month, Inaugural Lectures on the first and third Wednesdays, and Senate meetings on the last Wednesday of every month. Result uploads are expected to be completed within two weeks after examinations.
The university stated that the revised calendar reflects its commitment to predictable academic planning, improved time management, and stronger institutional discipline across all faculties.
