UNILORIN Pays Condolence Visit to Family of Late Professor Oladele Awobuluyi

The Management of the University of Ilorin has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Professor Oladele Awobuluyi at his residence in GRA, Ilorin.

Professor Awobuluyi, who passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the age of 89, was a foundational figure in the institution’s history. He served as the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Arts and delivered the university's first Inaugural Lecture.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Management Services, Professor Olalere Adeyemi, led the delegation on Thursday, August 6, 2026, to convey the university's heartfelt sympathies.

He lauded the late patriarch as one of Africa’s most distinguished linguists, whose groundbreaking scholarship and commitment to academic excellence leave a lasting legacy.
