The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, Prof. Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), has been appointed a member of the Body of Benchers, the highest governing body of the legal profession in Nigeria.

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, who disclosed that the development was conveyed in an official letter from the Secretary to the Body of Benchers, Mr. Daniel L. Tela.

According to the statement, the letter, dated March 31, 2026, indicated that the appointment takes immediate effect and will run for a period of three years.

The Body of Benchers is responsible for the formal call to the Nigerian Bar and the discipline of legal practitioners, making it a central institution in the regulation and advancement of the legal profession in the country.
