FUNAAB Graduate Wins Prestigious Gamma Sigma Delta Scholarship in United States

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) graduate, Mr. Olanrewaju Binuyo, has won the prestigious Gamma Sigma Delta Scholarship in the United States, adding an international honour to his academic and research career in agricultural science.

A trained Animal Scientist, Binuyo is currently pursuing a PhD in Animal Science, specialising in Integrated Animal Health Systems, at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, USA.

He received the scholarship on April 23, 2026, in recognition of his academic achievement, leadership and commitment to Agriculture and related sciences.

Gamma Sigma Delta, the Honor Society of Agriculture, supports outstanding students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership and commitment to advancing Agricultural Sciences. The scholarship places Binuyo among emerging agricultural researchers preparing to contribute to the future of the discipline.

Binuyo's academic journey in agriculture has its roots in FUNAAB, where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Nutrition in 2012 before completing a Master's Degree in Animal Science (Monogastric Nutrition) in 2021.

His education and training at FUNAAB provided the foundation for a research career that has progressively extended beyond Nigeria.

His academic background subsequently opened opportunities for competitive international programmes, including the Novus Graduate Scholarship (NGS), sponsored by Novus Inc., USA, a global company specialising in Animal Nutrition.

The scholarship was formally showcased at the 2016 Nigerian Poultry Show, where Binuyo emerged alongside two other graduate researchers from FUNAAB.

His academic progression also included international research exposure at the University of Missouri, broadening his scientific experience and connecting his Nigerian training with research environments outside the country.
