UNIMAID and NIQS Strengthen Partnership for Strategic Infrastructure Development

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Maiduguri, Professor Mohammed Laminu Mele, on Thursday, June 19, 2026, received a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (NIQS) at the Muhammadu Buhari Senate Building.

Welcoming the visitors to his office, Professor Mele expressed his appreciation for the familiarization visit. He noted with delight that the university stands out as an institution with one of the highest numbers of employed quantity surveyors. 

The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the university's unwavering commitment to collaborating with the institute, particularly through the Procurement Unit, in executing capital projects and drafting robust strategic plans.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, QS Zanna Sumayin, stated that the visit was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the university community and the quantity surveying profession. He highlighted the need to explore mutual cooperation to drive growth and sustainable development within the institution.

According to Sumayin, a deep-seated collaboration between the university and the profession would contribute immensely to infrastructural growth, the prudent utilization of resources, and the overall advancement of the university.

He further emphasized that such a strategic partnership is critical to enhancing project delivery, ensuring value for money, and promoting sustainable long-term growth across the campus."
