UNIMAID Media Directorate Appoints Outgoing IT Students as First-Ever Ambassadors
The Directorate of Media and Information at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has formally concluded the internship program for its latest cohort of Mass Communication students with a historic appointment.
On January 26, 2026, during a farewell ceremony held at the Senate Building, the Acting Director, Mr. Abubakar S. Biye, officially named the four departing interns as the first-ever Ambassadors of the Directorate.
The new ambassadors—Rosemary Robson, Amarachi Eze, Zainab Odunayo Haruna, and Magbagbeola Basit—have been tasked with a unique mandate. In their new roles, they will:
Identify Newsworthy Events: Monitor activities within their respective faculties and departments.
Submit Field Reports: Provide editorial content for official University publications.
Receive Professional Credit: Ensure their contributions are officially recognized, further building their professional portfolios.
Mr. Biye praised the group for their dedication, discipline, and versatility, noting their seamless integration into the editorial, photography, and technical units. He emphasized that their hands-on experience covering high-profile university events has prepared them for the rigors of professional media practice after graduation.
The students' supervisor, Mr. Adamu Isa Bukar, and other staff members also commended the interns for their positive attitude, urging them to uphold the ethics of the Mass Communication profession.
