The University of Abuja has signed an MoU with Brazil’s Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB) to promote research collaboration, student and staff exchange, and academic development. The partnership supports the university’s internationalization goals and is expected to create new global learning and research opportunities.

University of Abuja has strengthened its internationalization agenda with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Brazil’s Universidade do Estado da Bahia

The agreement was signed in Brasília on May 26 and is expected to foster cooperation in research, staff development, student mobility, and knowledge sharing between the two institutions.

The MoU was executed by the Rector of UNEB, Professor Adriana dos Santos Marmori Lima, and the University of Abuja’s Director of Advancement and International Linkages, Professor Olanrewaju Aladeitan, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi.

Under the terms of the partnership, both universities will facilitate student and staff exchange programmes, undertake joint research initiatives, organise short-term professional training activities, and promote the exchange of academic publications, teaching materials, and scholarly resources.

Speaking on the development, Vice-Chancellor Professor Fawehinmi described the agreement as a significant milestone in the university’s drive to expand its global academic presence and provide members of its community with access to international learning opportunities.

He noted that the collaboration would enable students and lecturers to engage with diverse perspectives, strengthen research capacity, and build partnerships capable of addressing contemporary challenges through innovation and knowledge-driven solutions.

“This agreement with the Universidade do Estado da Bahia will create significant opportunities for students and staff of both institutions. We look forward to a productive relationship that will advance teaching, research, and academic exchange,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
