University of Abuja VC Visits Security Agencies to Strengthen Campus Safety

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has intensified efforts to strengthen campus security and safeguard its community, as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, led members of the University Management on courtesy visits to key security agencies within the Federal Capital Territory.

The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has intensified efforts to strengthen campus security and safeguard its community, as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, led members of the University Management on courtesy visits to key security agencies within the Federal Capital Territory.

The visits, carried out yesterday, covered the 176 Guards Battalion in Gwagwalada, the Police Area Command, Gwagwalada, and the headquarters of the 167 Special Forces Battalion in Tunga Maje, Abuja.

During the engagements, Professor Fawehinmi solicited the continued support and collaboration of the security agencies in ensuring a safe and secure environment conducive to teaching, research, and learning. He also emphasised the need for joint efforts in protecting the University’s lawfully acquired assets from encroachment and other security threats.

Responding separately, the Commanding Officer of the 176 Guards Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Oladimeji Ajongbo; the Area Commander, Gwagwalada Area Command, ACP Chinyere Akalugo; and the Commanding Officer of the 167 Special Forces Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Babatunde Samuel, reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the University.

They assured the University Management of their readiness to continue working closely with UNIABUJA to preserve peace, safety, and lawful order within and around the campus.
