University of Ibadan Celebrates Academic Excellence at 77th Convocation
The University of Ibadan (UI) has successfully concluded its 77th Convocation and Foundation Day Ceremonies, reaffirming its commitment to producing graduates who excel globally.
The three-day event, held from November 11 to 13, 2025, honored 5,900 graduands across 16 faculties, including students from the Distance Learning Centre and affiliated institutions ¹ ².
Professor K.O. Adebowale, Vice-Chancellor of UI, emphasized the university's dedication to fostering discipline, integrity, and excellence among its graduates. "UI will keep producing graduates who stand out anywhere in the world," he stated, urging the graduands to uphold these values.
Notably, 321 students received first-class honors, with the Faculties of Arts, Science, and Education leading the way. Distinguished speakers, including UI alumni, encouraged the graduates to pursue innovation, resilience, and service to humanity.
The convocation ceremonies also recognized outstanding individuals through honorary awards, faculty prizes, and research fellowships. UI's top national ranking in the 2026 Times Higher Education World University Rankings was highlighted, showcasing its commitment to academic excellence.
Professor Adebowale expressed confidence that the Class of 2025 will uphold UI's legacy of excellence and make meaningful contributions to national and global development .
