University of Ibadan Partners with Dove-Haven Foundation on Cancer Awareness
The University of Ibadan has pledged to support Dove-Haven Foundation's Cancer Awareness Programme and the establishment of a branch of the campaign group within the university.
The partnership aims to promote cancer awareness, education, research, and training in the society.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, commended the foundation for its efforts in reducing cancer prevalence in Nigeria. He appreciated the foundation's use of volunteer services, noting that it is a rare and valuable practice in Nigeria.
The Executive Director of Dove-Haven Foundation, Dr. Ekundayo Samuel, explained that the organization's initiative, "PROJECT CARES: Campus-based Cancer Awareness and Rapid Early Screening," aims to impact one million people in Oyo State. The project will provide cancer awareness, education, screening, diagnosis, and management in selected institutions.
The University of Ibadan and four other tertiary institutions in Oyo State have been selected for the launch of the awareness program. These institutions include Lead City University, The Polytechnic Ibadan, School of Nursing & Midwifery, and Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology.
