University of Ilesa Lecturer Bunmi Regina Bankole Awarded Prestigious 2025 AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant
The African-German Network of Excellence in Science (AGNES), at its Board Meeting held on Tuesday, 10 March, 2026, approved the selection process for the AGNES BAYER Research Grant (IRG) and the AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant (MG), with a total of 45 awardees confirmed across the three grant programmes.
Among the successful recipients is Bunmi Regina Bankole, an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Industrial Chemistry, Faculty of Sciences, University of Ilesa, who emerged as one of the awardees of the 2025 AGNES Intra-Africa Mobility Grant (MG) under the General Category. The grant is aimed at strengthening research capacity and promoting academic mobility and collaboration across Africa.
Reacting to the announcement, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilesa, Prof. Taiwo Olufemi Asaolu, Ph.D, FCA, congratulated Bankole on the prestigious achievement. He described her as highly resourceful and hardworking, commending her dedication and noting that her success has brought pride and recognition to the institution.
Prof. Asaolu further encouraged other academic staff to take advantage of similar research and development opportunities, stressing that such achievements enhance the University’s growing reputation in science, innovation, and academic excellence across the continent.
