University of Maiduguri Faculty of Agriculture Alumni Honour Outstanding Students

The Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Maiduguri celebrated excellence on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, as the Year 2000 alumni facilitated awards for outstanding students across the faculty.

The ceremony took place at the Faculty Board Room, with the Dean, Professor Abubakar Usman, leading the proceedings.

The alumni group sponsored a cash award of ₦50,000 each to 16 exemplary students from eight departments, covering five academic sessions. In addition to the cash prizes, the group donated two photocopiers to the faculty, reinforcing their commitment to supporting academic excellence and institutional development.

Professor Usman commended the alumni for their generosity and presented them with a formal letter of appreciation, acknowledging their support as a significant contribution to the growth of the faculty and university.

In his remarks, Professor S.B. Adamu praised the initiative, highlighting its role in reviving the culture of giving and stressing that such gestures yield long-term benefits for the academic community.

Representing the alumni, Dr. Jidda Umar emphasized that the awards were a way of giving back to the university that had shaped their lives. He further noted that the initiative aimed to motivate current students to strive for higher academic performance, setting a standard of excellence for their peers.
