University of Maiduguri’s Ramat Library Holds Send-Off for Retiring Staff

The Ramat Library of the University of Maiduguri celebrated the dedicated service of its retiring staff members—Mr. Bukar Adam, Mrs. Rose Ada Emejo, Mr. Asokwu E. Akpan, and Mr. Bulama Usman—during a vibrant send-off ceremony held on Thursday, 29 January 2026.

The event, hosted at the Ramat Library, was characterized by heartfelt tributes, expressions of gratitude, and joyful recognition of the retirees’ commitment to knowledge, learning, and academic excellence.

Representing the Special Guest of Honour, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Services), Professor Mohammed Ahmed Waziri, Professor Mohammed Bukar, Director of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, emphasized that the ceremony was not a farewell but a celebration of years of dedication, quiet sacrifice, and unwavering service. He noted that libraries are the heart of any university and praised the retirees for safeguarding that heart—guiding students, supporting researchers, preserving records, and ensuring the continuous flow of knowledge within the institution.

Professor Bukar also highlighted that the ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the retirees, filled with rest, personal fulfillment, and the satisfaction of their significant contributions to the growth of the University of Maiduguri. He commended the University Librarian, Dr. Talatu Rabasa, for her excellent coordination of the event, describing it as a testament to her commitment to staff welfare and recognition of dedicated service.

In her address, University Librarian Dr. Talatu Rabasa expressed profound appreciation to the retiring staff for their professionalism, loyalty, and years of selfless service. She emphasized that their dedication, integrity, and hard work have left lasting impacts on the University of Maiduguri. On behalf of university management and the entire library community, Dr. Rabasa formally thanked the retirees for their invaluable contributions to the institution.
