University of Offa Hosts Ghanaian High Commission Delegation Ahead of Maiden Convocation

The University of Offa (UNIOFFA), Kwara State, has hosted a delegation from the Ghanaian High Commission in Nigeria. 

This was part of preparations for the institution’s maiden Convocation Ceremony scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, to Monday, October 12, 2026.

The Ghanaian delegation arrived at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, on Friday, October 2, 2026, ahead of the historic university event, which will feature the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, as the Special Guest of Honour.

The delegation comprised Dr. Tenewa Asamoah, Minister Plenipotentiary/Head of Political and Economic Section; Mr. Inusah Ziblim, Minister/Head of Consular Section; and Mr. Uthman Idris Mohammed.

The delegates were received by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Offa, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade; the Registrar, Mr. Salaudeen Ajibola Oyewale; the Director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research (DAPIR), Dr. Abdulrazak Agboola Bello; Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Jimoh Obalowu Mustapha and the Head of the Media and Public Relations Unit, Taofik Adekunle Jimoh.

As part of the engagement, the University and the Ghanaian delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Government House, where they were received by the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The interaction provided an opportunity for discussions on the significance of the forthcoming convocation and the visit of the Ghanaian President to the state, as well as the importance of strengthening institutional and diplomatic relations.

The following day, Saturday, October 3, the delegation visited the University of Offa for a high-level engagement with the University Management.

The delegation was hosted by the Founder of the University and Babalaje of Offaland, Dr. Rasaq Omoniyi Oyewale. 

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to review arrangements for the maiden Convocation Ceremony and discuss areas of collaboration and coordination towards a successful and memorable event.

The Ghanaian delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Olofa of Offa, His Royal Majesty, Oba Mufutau Muhammad Gbadamosi Oloyede Okikiola Esuwoye II, Ajagungbade I. 

The last further underscoring the cultural and diplomatic significance of the President of Ghana’s forthcoming visit to Offa.
