UNIZIK ASUU Branch Withdraws Academic, Administrative Services Over Unpaid August Salary
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Branch, has directed its members to withdraw academic and administrative services over the non-payment of their August 2026 salary.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Branch, has directed its members to withdraw academic and administrative services over the non-payment of their August 2026 salary.
The directive followed the National Executive Council (NEC) Standing Resolution empowering ASUU branches to withdraw their services if salaries are not paid by the third day of the following month. It also followed a resolution reached at the branch’s Congress held on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to the directive, members of ASUU-NAU are to withdraw their services with immediate effect and remain on the action until the complete payment of their August 2026 salary.
In compliance with the directive, all members are specifically required to:

Withdraw all academic and administrative services, including teaching, lectures, tutorials, practicals, supervision, marking of scripts, examinations, departmental, board and committee meetings, submission of results, online classes and other related activities, with immediate effect.

Refrain from signing the attendance register or responding to memos and directives from Heads of Departments (HODs), Deans and the University Administration.

Remain united and vigilant, monitor official ASUU-NAU platforms for updates and attend Congress meetings.

Report any form of intimidation or harassment to the Branch Executive Council (EXCO) immediately.
The branch stated that services would resume only upon notification that the complete August 2026 salary had been paid.
All members were urged to fully comply with the directive and remain united.
