UNIZIK: Prof. Mbachu Emerges New Dean of Faculty of Medicine

Prof. Ikechukwu Mbachu has been elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, following a keenly contested election. Prof. Mbachu polled 44 votes to defeat Prof. C.I. Oranusi, who secured 28 votes, out of a total of 72.

Prof. Ikechukwu Mbachu has been elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, following a keenly contested election. Prof. Mbachu polled 44 votes to defeat Prof. C.I. Oranusi, who secured 28 votes, out of a total of 72.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Mbachu expressed gratitude to the faculty staff for entrusting him with the leadership of the faculty and assured them of an all-inclusive administration.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, who chaired the special Faculty Board meeting held at the Faculty of Medicine Boardroom, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi, congratulated Prof. Mbachu and urged members of the faculty to remain united and supportive of the new Dean’s administration.

The election marks the end of the two-year tenure of Prof. Gladys I. Ahaneku, mni, who served with distinction. The exercise was witnessed by top university officials, including Dr. Chinenye Okeke, Registrar, and Prof. Emejulu, Provost of the College of Health Sciences, among others.
