UNIZIK VC Pays Maiden Courtesy Visit to Chancellor, Seeks Stronger Collaboration for University’s Development
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, has paid a maiden courtesy visit to the university’s Chancellor, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos, at his palace along Tudun Wada Road, Jishe area, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, has paid a maiden courtesy visit to the university’s Chancellor, His Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, the Gbong Gwom Jos, at his palace along Tudun Wada Road, Jishe area, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The visit followed Prof. Anyaehie’s appointment as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university in November last year and served as a formal introduction to the traditional ruler.
Beyond the formal engagement, the meeting provided an opportunity for both leaders to discuss strategic collaboration and areas of mutual interest aimed at advancing the development and academic growth of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
During the visit, Prof. Anyaehie expressed his appreciation for the Chancellor’s leadership and continued support for the university. He also outlined the administration’s vision for the institution, anchored on eight strategic pillars:

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the strategic pillars are designed to strengthen UNIZIK’s position among Nigeria’s leading institutions of higher learning.

“Our goal is to build an environment rooted in academic excellence and administrative transparency,” Prof. Anyaehie stated, stressing the importance of close alignment between the university management and the Chancellor’s office in achieving the administration’s objectives.
The Vice-Chancellor also briefed the Chancellor on preparations for the forthcoming 20th and 21st combined Convocation Ceremonies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and informed him that a formal invitation would be presented to him.
Responding, the Gbong Gwom Jos warmly received the Vice-Chancellor and congratulated him on his appointment.
Da Jacob Gyang Buba reaffirmed his commitment to the progress of Nnamdi Azikiwe University and assured Prof. Anyaehie of his support and royal guidance throughout his tenure.
The traditional ruler expressed his delight at meeting the Vice-Chancellor for the first time. He also explained that he understood the initial lull in communication, noting that Prof. Anyaehie had been acclimatising to the university environment following his appointment.
The Gbong Gwom Jos, who is the Chairman of the Plateau State Traditional Council of Chiefs and the third Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, further indicated his willingness to discuss other matters of mutual interest and the progress of the university with the Vice-Chancellor during his visit to UNIZIK for the convocation ceremonies.
The meeting ended with both parties committing to strengthening ties between the university management, the Chancellor’s office and other stakeholder networks, with particular attention to research, infrastructure and institutional stability.
Prof. Anyaehie was accompanied on the courtesy visit by the Director of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah, and his Personal Assistant, Hon. Onyinye Umejiburu (Bishop).
