UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor Hosts UNN Alumni Association, Awka Branch

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has hosted the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Alumni Association (UNAA), Awka Branch, during a courtesy visit held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.

During the visit, the President of the Awka Branch, Dr Chinedu N. Mbalisi, formally presented a muffler to the Vice-Chancellor and honoured him with a ceremonial decoration. Dr Mbalisi explained that the visit was aimed at strengthening cordial relations between the alumni body and the University leadership, a tradition sustained since the tenure of former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Okechukwu Charles Esimone.

He also formally invited Professor Anyaehie to the 2025 UNAA Alumni Forum and End-of-Year Party, themed “Sustaining the Lion Spirit: Alumni in Service and Leadership.” The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the ASUU Secretariat, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and will be chaired by Professor Josephat Okechukwu Ogbuagu.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the gesture and reaffirmed his willingness to support the activities of the Alumni Association. He described the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, as a prestigious institution and noted that the positive engagement between both institutions would further enhance the standing of Nnamdi Azikiwe University.
