UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor Pays Courtesy Visit to Archbishop Ibezim

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, has paid a courtesy visit to the Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, PhD, at the Awka Diocese headquarters.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Anyaehie, has paid a courtesy visit to the Archbishop of the Province on the Niger and Anglican Bishop of Awka, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, PhD, at the Awka Diocese headquarters.

The visit, which took place on Friday, December 12, 2025, provided an opportunity for spiritual reflection and engagement between the University leadership and the Anglican Church. During the visit, Archbishop Ibezim received the Vice-Chancellor at the Chapel, where he dedicated him before God and offered prayers for wisdom, strength, and success in his tenure as the 7th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.

The Archbishop, while addressing the Vice-Chancellor, noted that when righteous leadership is enthroned, the people rejoice. He highlighted several milestones achieved by the Church under his leadership, including the establishment of a College of Nursing, Paul University, a Polytechnic in Mgbakwu, and a College of Education in Nise. He described these accomplishments as divinely enabled and encouraged Professor Anyaehie to remain focused and resolute in office, assuring him that the position would bring greater grace rather than burden.

Archbishop Ibezim pledged his continued support for the Vice-Chancellor, noting that his success would also reflect positively on the Church. He encouraged him to remain steadfast, describing him as being firmly on a pathway of success.

Speaking during the visit, a member of the Bishop’s Court and Director of the UNIZIK Centre for Water Resources, Professor Emma Ezenwaji, assured the Vice-Chancellor of strong institutional and spiritual support, expressing confidence that he would work with dedicated and dependable hands throughout his tenure.

In his response, Professor Anyaehie expressed deep appreciation for the warm reception and prayers. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving with the fear of God, fairness, and integrity, attributing his personal and professional journey to divine grace. He assured the Archbishop that he would strive to uphold values that reflect positively on both the University and the wider society.

Dignitaries present at the visit included Venerable Anayo Nkamnebe; former Director of the UNIZIK Business School; Professor Harry Obi-Nwosu, Director, Centre for Counselling and Career Development; Professor Cliff Nwana, Rector, Renaissance Polytechnic, Mgbakwu; Dr Matthew Izuchukwu Anushiem, Head of Department, Clinical Legal Education, Faculty of Law; and the Diocesan Registrar of the Awka Diocese, among others.
