The Lagos State University has raised concerns over the growing incidence of unauthorised use of its campuses and facilities for content creation activities, particularly by students, warning that such practices pose reputational risks to the institution.
In a press statement issued on Friday, December 12, 2025, the University noted that while it supports creativity and responsible self-expression, a number of content materials being produced within its premises are offensive, inappropriate, and inconsistent with the core values and image of the University.
According to the statement, such content misrepresents the institution and undermines its standing as a centre of learning, character development, research, and innovation.
To address the situation, the University announced that all individuals—including students, staff, and members of the general public—must obtain prior approval before engaging in any form of cinematographic or audiovisual activity on any LASU campus. Approval is to be secured from the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), located on the 3rd Floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo.

The directive covers the recording or production of skits, vox pops, short films, promotional content, and any other form of video or audiovisual material within University premises, hostels, and associated facilities.
The statement also emphasized that the use of drones within the University environment without formal authorisation from the Security Department is strictly prohibited, citing safety, privacy, and security concerns.
The University Management appealed for the cooperation of all stakeholders in preserving the dignity, integrity, and reputation of Lagos State University.
The statement was signed by Oluwayemis A. Thomas-Onashile, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator, Centre for Information and Public Relations, Lagos State University.
