The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, recently received Julie McKay, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate General, on a courtesy visit to his office.

The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Bond Ugochukwu Stanley Anyaehie, recently received Julie McKay, Public Affairs Officer of the U.S. Consulate General, on a courtesy visit to his office.

The visit, facilitated by Prof. I.K. Odimegwu, Director of Awka Window on America (AWA), highlighted the growing collaboration between UNIZIK and U.S. institutions. Prof. Odimegwu outlined the centre’s role as a hub for skills acquisition and cultural exchange since its establishment in 2018 and commissioning in 2021. He introduced McKay as a seasoned cultural affairs official with over 25 years of experience and expressed confidence that the partnership would significantly enhance the University’s development.

Julie McKay expressed her pleasure at visiting Awka for the first time, commending the leadership of AWA and lauding UNIZIK’s “full-right partnership” with the U.S. Consulate. She announced plans to bring American experts to the University to support upcoming Fulbright Specialist Programs.

Prof. Anyaehie welcomed the visit, drawing a historical parallel to the University’s namesake, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, who benefited from American education. He emphasized the potential for the Consulate’s support in promoting UNIZIK’s postgraduate programs through online learning initiatives.

The meeting was witnessed by Prof. Osisioma Hilda (Acting DVC, Coordinating), Mr. Victor I. Modebelu (Deputy Registrar, General Admin.), and other key members including Wunmi Onome-Hukpe (Alumni Co-ordinator), Gbadebo (Education Outreach Co-ordinator), Timilayo Famutimi (American Spaces Programme Co-ordinator), and Clemson Ayegbusi (Established Opinion Leader Specialist).
