The past few weeks have witnessed bickering in the Nigerian space following reports that Ms. Hannatu Musawa, the newly appointed minister of Art, Culture and creative economy was currently a serving corps member.

The past few weeks have witnessed bickering in the Nigerian space following reports that Ms. Hannatu Musawa, the newly appointed minister of Art, Culture and creative economy was currently a serving corps member.

Myschoolnews gathered, it had been gathered that Ms. Musawa during her screening had b en discovered not to have her NYSC certificate ready but was still confirmed which raised concerns among Nigerians.

 

It was however later revealed by the NYSC that she was currently serving in a law firm in Abuja.

 

The new minister was said to have earlier been mobilised in 2003 to serve in Ebonyi after which she stated she had redeployed to Kaduna to complete her service.

 

However, the NYSC insisted she had absconded after she redeployed to Kaduna and didn't complete the service year as she claimed thus refusing to issue her the certificate.

 

She is currently serving in Abuja which has raised lots of concerns amongst Nigerians who feel she shouldn't have been given a ministerial slot.

 

However, there is more to the issue than meets the eye as Ms. Hannatu had claimed years earlier that she misplaced her NYSC certificate in a fire incident; a claim which was debunked by the NYSC who claimed she never got the certificate in the first place.

 

The minister has however insisted she broke no laws by accepting her appointment as a minister.

 

It is left to be seen how the issue develops, but however the issue turns out Nigerian youths would be watching with keen interest.
