Youth Advocate Group Marks BUK VC First Anniversary, Appoints Prof. Haruna Musa to Governing Board

The Youth Development and Empowerment Advocate of Nigeria has congratulated the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, fsi, on his first year in office, describing the period as one of remarkable transformation and impactful leadership.  

The commendation was made on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, when the National Coordinator of the association, Abdussalam Salman Adam, led other national officers on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor.  

Speaking during the visit, Adam said the association is committed to promoting education, skills acquisition, youth empowerment and advocacy across Nigeria. He noted that the organisation was impressed by the Vice-Chancellor’s achievements within one year, particularly the positive impact of his administration on students and the University’s overall development.  

In recognition of his outstanding leadership and commitment to youth development, the association announced the appointment of Professor Haruna Musa as a member of its Governing Board.  

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude for the honour. He attributed the successes recorded during his first year in office to the collective support and dedication of the University’s principal officers, staff and students.  

Professor Musa reaffirmed the University’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote youth development and empowerment. He also urged the association to intensify efforts in addressing the challenges of insecurity, youth restiveness and moral decadence, particularly in Northern Nigeria, through sustained advocacy and constructive engagement.
