ABU SBC Class of 1975/76 Donates Specialized Roofing Materials to Kashim Ibrahim Library

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has received a significant donation of specialized roofing materials from the School of Basic Studies (SBS) Class of 1975/76. The materials are specifically designated for the repair and maintenance of the roof at the iconic Kashim Ibrahim Library (KIL).

The donation, delivered on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, consists of Hydro Seal Premium Elastomeric Waterproofing Membrane, a high-grade material engineered to seal rooftops and prevent leakages during the rainy season.

Representing the donors, Bala Shehu, the Regional Manager (Northern Nigeria) for Plusworld, officially handed over the first batch of 30 buckets. He confirmed that an additional 52 buckets would be delivered shortly, bringing the total contribution to 82 units of the waterproofing membrane.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adamu Ahmed, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Bello Sabo, expressed deep gratitude to the 1975/76 alumni for their timely intervention. Professor Ahmed described the gesture as a premier example of alumni support, noting that preserving the library’s infrastructure is vital for the university's academic mission.

He further directed the contractors assigned to the project to ensure the materials are utilized effectively to provide a long-lasting solution to the library's roofing challenges.
