McPherson University Appoints Dr. Simeon Olaosebikan Oni as Acting Dean, College of Law
The Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has approved the appointment of Dr. Simeon Olaosebikan Oni as Acting Dean, College of Law, with retroactive effect from September 1, 2026, for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Dr. Oni is a distinguished scholar, researcher, academic administrator and seasoned legal practitioner with extensive experience in law, education and public service. He obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) from the then Oyo State College of Education, now Osun State College of Education, Ilesa, in 1987, and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the then Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, in 1998. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1999.
He obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Ibadan in 2011, a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in 2018 and a Ph.D in International Relations in 2020, both from Lead City University, Ibadan. He also obtained a Ph.D in Law in 2025.
Dr. Oni has distinguished himself in academic leadership and administration. At Lead City University, Ibadan, he served as Sub-Dean, Faculty of Law, from 2014 to 2016, Head of Department of Public and International Law in 2024, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Law and subsequently substantive Dean in 2025.
A prolific scholar and author, Dr. Oni has published over 60 articles and papers in national and international journals and authored five textbooks in various areas of law. He has also presented papers at national and international conferences and contributed to academic research as a reviewer for the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Science (IJRISS).

His professional legal experience includes 18 years as Head of the Legal Unit at Lead City University, where he provided legal counsel and representation from the Magistrate Court to the Supreme Court. He is a Notary Public and has served as Legal Adviser to the Governing Council of Lead City University. He has also served as an assessor at the International Court of Justice Competition in The Hague, Netherlands, and the African Human Rights Moot Court Competition in Botswana.
Dr. Oni is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators and the Institute of Personality Development and Customer Relations. He has received more than 20 national and international awards in recognition of his contributions to academia, law and public service, and is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), National Association of Law Teachers (NALT) and Christian Lawyers Fellowship of Nigeria (CLASFON), among other professional organisations.
