Niger Assembly Education Committee Inspects Polytechnic Projects, Commends Development

The Niger State House of Assembly Committee on Education has conducted an oversight visit to Niger State Polytechnic, Zungeru, where it inspected facilities and ongoing projects and commended the level of development at the institution.

The committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Muhammed Sani Idris, was received by the management at the Council Chamber of the Main Campus on September 17, 2026.

The Chief Host and Rector of the Polytechnic, Amb. Dr. Ibrahim Umar Kontagora, welcomed the lawmakers and provided an overview of the institution's development and transformation.

During the briefing, the Rector highlighted achievements recorded, ongoing projects and areas where the institution is facing challenges, as well as efforts toward improving facilities, academic environment, skills development and learning experience for students.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of the House Committee on Education commended the management, staff and students for their unity, cooperation and discipline.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of development observed, particularly infrastructure and facilities, which he described as being among the best in Niger State.

Hon. Idris also commended the Rector for his leadership and efforts toward transforming the Polytechnic into a modern institution focused on education, innovation, technical and vocational skills development and academic excellence.

As part of the oversight exercise, members embarked on an inspection tour of facilities and projects across the institution to assess the state of infrastructure and ongoing development.

The visit provided an avenue for engagement with the management and firsthand insight into achievements, developmental needs and challenges.

The Polytechnic management described the visit as an important recognition of its progress and encouragement to sustain efforts toward improving education and skills development.

The institution continues to position itself around its vision of building today and inspiring tomorrow through education, innovation and skills development.
