Adamawa Poly Appoints Suleiman Samaila Acting Rector After Six Months

The Governing Council of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola, has appointed Dr Engr. Suleiman Samaila as Acting Rector, replacing Dr Harrison Edan Mbasumai who served in acting capacity for six months.
The appointment was announced after an emergency meeting of the Council held on Thursday, September 25, 2026, at the Polytechnic Conference Hall.
According to the appointment letter dated September 25, 2026, and signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Cyril Michael Ubale, the appointment takes immediate effect.
Dr Mbasumai was appointed Acting Rector on April 2, 2026, following the expiration of the previous administration's tenure. His six-month tenure has now elapsed.
The appointment of Dr Samaila is an interim arrangement to ensure smooth administration pending the appointment of a substantive Rector.
The position of Rector has reportedly been advertised, with the institution expected to commence or conclude the selection process.
Until his appointment, Dr Samaila served as Director of the Entrepreneurship Study Centre of the Polytechnic. He had previously served as Dean of the School of Engineering, Science and Technology, where he was involved in academic and administrative management.
He is expected to assume responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the institution with immediate effect.
