Ahmadu Bello University Honors Sheikh Ahmad Maqari Saidu with National Conference

Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), in collaboration with Tanmiya Education Foundation, organized a national conference in honor of Sheikh Ahmad Maqari Saidu Zaria.

The event, themed "Sheikh Ahmad Maqari Saidu Zaria: Icon of Educational and Social Reform," took place at the CBN Centre of Economics and Finance, Main Campus, Samaru, Zaria.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala emphasized the importance of compiling Sheikh Maqari's intellectual works for future generations, acknowledging his significant contributions to education and social reform. Prof. Bala commended the organizers for bringing together scholars from diverse backgrounds to celebrate Sheikh Maqari's legacy.

 

The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Prof. H.I. Bayero, highlighted the relevance of Sheikh Maqari's writings, research, and literary works in addressing societal challenges. He encouraged participants to engage with the intellectual discussions and reflections on Sheikh Maqari's works.

Keynote speaker Prof. Mustafa Gwadabe praised Sheikh Maqari's achievements, including establishing Qur'an memorization schools, promoting peace dialogue, and producing notable literary works in Hausa and Arabic.

 

The conference was attended by traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, students, and friends and family of the celebrant. This event serves as a testament to Sheikh Maqari's enduring impact on education and social development in Nigeria.
