The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the appointment of new members to the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s administration and governance.

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the appointment of new members to the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s administration and governance.

According to a press release issued on 23rd February 2026, the appointments were made by Governor Umo Bassey Eno. Leading the new council is Udoma Udo Udoma, who will serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. Other appointees include Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Surveyor Mfoniso Essien, Lady (Barr.) Dr. Stella Udoh, and Dr. Enefiok Edem.

Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy are included as council members.

The appointments are effective immediately, with the inauguration scheduled for Monday, 23rd February 2026, at 5:00 p.m. in the EXCO Chamber, Governor’s Office, Uyo. All members have been instructed to attend the inauguration promptly.
