Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic Announces Date for Mandatory Student Health Insurance Enrolment

Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene, has announced Monday, January 19, 2026, as the official date for the sensitization and enrolment of its students into the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Scheme (AKSHIS).

The exercise, which follows a directive of the Akwa Ibom State Government, will be conducted by officials of the State Health Insurance Agency and is scheduled to hold at 1:00 p.m. prompt at the Polytechnic Library Conference Hall.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Ekerette A. Esu, Desk Officer (AKSHIS), management directed that all students must participate, as enrolment into the scheme is compulsory.

To ensure full compliance, the institution has also declared January 19 lecture-free, test-free and examination-free from 1:00 p.m. for all students.

The Polytechnic management urged students to take the exercise seriously, describing it as a key part of the state’s healthcare coverage policy for tertiary institution students.
