The Management of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic has expressed dismay over the rising trend of “Graduating Students’ Sign-Out fan fair,” a form of celebration recently observed within the institution.
Management noted with concern that the practice has been abused, with various organizations lodging complaints about the misuse of their professional outfits during such events.

In a circular signed by Ibanga Nathaniel, Deputy Registrar and Officer-In-Charge, Students’ Affairs, for the Acting Registrar, the Polytechnic announced an outright ban on all forms of sign-out celebrations by graduating students. The statement described the activity as a violation of the institution’s rules and regulations, stressing that disciplinary action would be taken against any student found contravening the directive.
“All students and student organizations are expected to take note and comply strictly with this directive,” the circular stated.
Management further urged that the circular be given wide publicity to ensure that students are fully aware of the ban and its implications.
