Al-Ansar Foundation Honours FULafia VC, Kida, Urges Merit-Based Leadership

The Al-Ansar Foundation, proprietors of Al-Ansar University, Maiduguri, Borno State, has organised a reception (walima) in honour of the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, to celebrate his appointment.

Delivering the keynote address, the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Prof. Salisu Shehu, urged Kida to embrace inclusive and consultative leadership in the administration of the University.

Shehu advised the new Kida to shun favouritism and the "know-it-all" approach, stressing that merit should remain the guiding principle in appointments and delegation of responsibilities.

He encouraged Kida to entrust capable individuals with responsibilities and seek counsel regularly, noting that effective leadership thrives on consultation.

"Those who consult don't fail," Shehu said, adding that no leader possesses all the knowledge required for successful administration.

He reminded the vice-chancellor that leadership is a trust bestowed by Allah on whom He wills and at His appointed time, urging Kida to discharge his responsibility with humility, justice and accountability.
