Bauchi State University to Confer Degrees on 7,710 Graduates in Maiden Convocation

Bauchi State University to Confer Degrees on 7,710 Graduates in Maiden Convocation

In a historic event, Bauchi State University is set to hold its maiden convocation, conferring degrees upon 7,710 students across various disciplines. The convocation ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the main Campus in Gadau, will mark a significant milestone for the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of Bauchi State University, Professor Fatima Tahir, announced this during a pre-convocation press conference held in Gadau. She highlighted that the university, established in 2010 through the Bauchi State House of Assembly Act, has been a catalyst for educational development, meeting the needs for sustainable growth in the state and beyond.

The students to be conferred degrees include those obtaining First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s Degrees, Master of Sciences, Master of Arts, and Doctorate Degrees. Professor Fatima Tahir provided a breakdown of the graduands, revealing that 185 students achieved First Class, 2,411 graduated with Second Class Upper, 3,695 with Second Class Lower, 886 with Third Class, and 19 with a Pass degree.

Furthermore, Bauchi State University will honor deserving personalities with honorary doctorate degrees during the maiden convocation. Notable individuals to receive this recognition include Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Emir of Bauchi Dr. Rilwanu Adamu Suleiman, Emir of Katagum Umar Faruk, Elder Statesman Sa’adu Zungur, and former Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda.

The ceremony will encompass various activities, including the commissioning of completed projects by the Bauchi state government and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), a pre-convocation lecture by Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega, the immediate past Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and a Chancellor dinner.
