Bayelsa Medical University Warns Public Against Admission Scammers

Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) has alerted prospective students, parents and the general public to the activities of fraudsters operating fake Facebook pages and circulating counterfeit admission letters to defraud unsuspecting applicants.

The University stated that the fake social media pages and admission letters do not represent Bayelsa Medical University and urged members of the public to disregard them.

BMU clarified the following:

• The University does not offer admission through unofficial Facebook pages, WhatsApp messages or any unauthorised social media accounts.
• The University does not request or accept admission or school fee payments into personal bank accounts under any circumstances.
• Any admission letter, message or individual requesting payment into a personal account or promising admission in exchange for money is fraudulent.
• All admissions and payments are processed only through the University's approved official channels and designated payment platforms in accordance with JAMB and the University's admission procedures.

The University advised prospective students, parents and guardians to verify all admission-related information through its official communication channels before taking any action.

It also urged members of the public to ignore and immediately report any suspicious admission offers, payment requests or fake social media accounts claiming to represent Bayelsa Medical University.

BMU further warned applicants not to make payments into personal bank accounts for admission or any University-related service, stressing that only official payment channels should be used.

The University appealed to the public to share the advisory to help protect others from falling victim to admission scams.
