Bayero University Kano to Compete at Federation of Africa University Sports Games in Lagos

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) is set to participate in the forthcoming Federation of African University Sports Games (FASU) in Lagos, with athletes representing the university in various sports.

According to Professor Rabiu Mohammed, Director of Sports, BUK will compete in badminton, among other sports, at the 10-day event co-hosted by Lagos State University and the University of Lagos.

Professor Mohammed expressed gratitude to Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas for sponsoring the athletes and officials.

The 2024 FASU Games, scheduled to begin on Friday, feature 17 sports, including:

Nigeria is hosting the games for the second time, after Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi in 2004.

University of Lagos Vice Chancellor, Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, assured that Nigeria is prepared to deliver a world-class event.

"Nigeria is not just hosting the Games; it's about to make history. For the first time since 1974, two universities - University of Lagos and Lagos State University - will co-host the Games."
