LASWA Trains 50 Bariga/Somolu Pupils in Swimming and Waterways Safety

The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has trained 50 pupils from public schools in the Bariga/Somolu area in swimming and waterways safety. This training was part of the Lagos Water Savvy Kid’s Programme, a week-long event aimed at promoting safety among riverine school children.

At the closing ceremony held at Bloomgrey Pool, Gbagada, LASWA General Manager, Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of waterway users, particularly school children. He highlighted LASWA’s efforts in providing life jackets and boating education to riverine schools.

Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, emphasized the importance of water safety education in reducing accidents and promoting sustainable transportation. He noted that the programme aligns with the state’s Transportation Master Plan.
