Budget Office Commends FUEZ for Prudent Utilization of 2024 Capital Funds

The Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUEZ) hosted a high-level monitoring delegation from the Budget Office of the Federation under the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning as part of the Fourth Quarter 2024 assessment of capital budget performance.

The delegation, led by Dr. Gimbiya Iliyasu, comprised Mr. Umar M. I., Team Secretary; Mrs. Dalek Mwanret I., Team Member; Mrs. Adekunle Titilayo A., Team Member; and Mr. Pavali Emmanuel, Team Anchor.

The visit focused on evaluating the University’s implementation of capital projects funded under the 2024 budget cycle. Projects inspected during the exercise included the rehabilitation of the female students’ hostel and the upgrade of the institution’s sports complex.

Speaking during the engagement, Dr. Iliyasu expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded to the team, noting that the exercise was designed to assess the execution and performance of capital allocations. She commended the University for what she described as the effective and judicious utilization of public funds.

The monitoring team was received by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Suleiman Balarabe, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure. In his remarks, Dr. Balarabe thanked the delegation for what he characterized as a thorough and constructive assessment. He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities.

Also present at the briefing were the Acting Registrar, Alh. Shehu Iya Sa’idu; Deputy Bursar, Mr. Faya Fidelis Macham; Acting Director of Works and Services, Engr. Aliyu Ango; Arc. Anas Sambo; and the Deputy Director of Protocol and Information, Mal. Usman Ladan.
