Academic staff of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Anambra State, have made a strong impression at the International Research Initiatives Conference (IRIC) held in Accra, Ghana.
The participation aligns with the Values, Viability, and Visibility (3Vs) policy direction of the administration of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kate Azuka Omenugha, as the university continues to strengthen its presence in global academic and research engagements.
The conference, held from Monday, July 20, to Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Kokomlemle, Accra, Ghana, was themed “Advancing Innovation in Education, Agriculture, Health, and Industry.”
IRIC 2026 brought together scholars, researchers and professionals from across Africa to promote multidisciplinary collaboration, knowledge exchange and innovative solutions across key sectors.
COOU was represented by a delegation of senior academics and administrators, including Professor Nneka Nnorom, Director of Academic Planning; Professor Sylvia Okonkwo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development and Uli Campus Affairs; Professor John Paul Iloh, Director of ICT; Professor Joy Okeke-Ezeanyanwu, Head of the Department of Vocational Education; and Professor Ikechukwu Asika, Head of the Department of English.
Other members of the delegation were Dr. Harrison Madubueze, Public Relations Officer; Dr. Gideon Nwafor, Head of the Department of Mass Communication; Dr. Ifunanya Ohamobi, Member of the Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee; Dr. Stella Afulukwe, Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences; and Dr. Emma Onyebueke, Head of the Department of Industrial Physics.
The university’s participation at the international conference reflects COOU’s growing commitment to research excellence, innovation and global academic partnerships.
The engagement further reinforces the institution’s efforts to enhance its visibility and contribute to intellectual development across Africa through impactful research initiatives.
