CUSTECH VC Debunks Campus Bandit Attack Rumours, Assures Public of Total Security
The Vice Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Engr. Prof. Abdulrahman Asipita Salawu,FNSE, has reassured parents, students, staff, and the entire university community that the institution remains safe and secure for academic activities.
The Vice Chancellor gave this assurance during an emergency meeting with members of the Students' Representative Council (SRC) held on Thursday, 5th June, 2026, at the Senate Chamber of the University.
The meeting was convened following a false alarm circulated by some students alleging that bandits had attacked the University, a development that caused panic and anxiety among members of the campus community.
Addressing the student representatives, Prof. Salawu emphasized that there was no security breach on campus and urged students to refrain from spreading unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear and tension, particularly in view of the prevailing security challenges in parts of the country.
The Vice Chancellor assured parents and guardians that their children and wards studying at CUSTECH Osara are safe, noting that the University Management remains committed to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching, learning, and research.
He further stated that security personnel within and around the University community are working round the clock to safeguard lives and property, while continuously collaborating with relevant security agencies to maintain peace and order on campus.
As part of efforts to strengthen campus security, the University has reiterated that no student, staff member, or visitor without proper means of identification will be granted access into the campus.
Speaking on behalf of the students, the President of the Students' Representative Council, Comrade Abdullahi Zulqarnain, commended the University Management for putting adequate security measures in place. He pledged the continued support and cooperation of the SRC in ensuring that CUSTECH remains a safe and peaceful environment for learning and innovation.
The meeting was attended by the Director of Academic Planning, Pharm. Muhammed Asuku Audu; Director of Physical Planning and Development, Bldr. Ismail Adoke; Dean of Student Affairs, Engr. Dr. Shehu Shaib; Acting Director of Works and Maintenance, Engr. Rufai Sadiq; and the Acting Chief Security Officer of the University, Mr. Ahmed Ismaila Ozovehe.
The University Management therefore calls on students, parents, guardians, and members of the public to disregard the false report and continue to support efforts aimed at maintaining the peace, security, and academic excellence for which CUSTECH Osara is known for.
