Registration has officially opened for the DAAD Alumni Workshop on Evidence-Based Nutrition Policy Pathways, a multi-stakeholder capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening the translation of nutrition research into policy and practical interventions in Nigeria and beyond.
Registration has officially opened for the DAAD Alumni Workshop on Evidence-Based Nutrition Policy Pathways, a multi-stakeholder capacity-building programme aimed at strengthening the translation of nutrition research into policy and practical interventions in Nigeria and beyond.
The workshop is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany, and is being organised in collaboration with the Department of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU).
The hybrid event (physical and virtual participation) is scheduled to hold from July 23 to 25, 2026, at the ASUU Secretariat Conference Hall, MOUAU, Umudike, Abia State.
The programme is designed to bring together researchers, nutrition scientists, public health professionals, development practitioners, and policymakers working to strengthen evidence-based nutrition systems across Nigeria and other regions.

Key highlights of the workshop include:
- Keynote lectures by DAAD alumni and external specialists
- Technical sessions on biostatistics for nutrition and school-based interventions
- Hands-on workshops using real-world nutrition and school health datasets
- Panel discussions linking research evidence to policy and programme design
- Alumni knowledge transfer and mentoring sessions for early-career researchers
- Development of pilot concept notes and policy-oriented outputs
The organisers noted that the workshop is open to DAAD alumni and alumnae, faculty members, early-career researchers, graduate students, current DAAD scholarship holders, and professionals in nutrition, food science, public health, agriculture, and development studies.
According to the announcement, registration closes on Tuesday, July 1, 2026, and participation in the physical sessions is limited, with slots to be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Virtual participation will be available via Zoom upon request.
