The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Prof. Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the new Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced on Friday, August 8, 2025.
Prof. Olawale, a Professor of Agronomy, brings decades of experience in teaching, research, and university administration. He earned his B.Sc. in Agriculture from the University of Ibadan, where he also obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics.
Over the years, he has served as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning in Nigerian universities, playing a pivotal role in curriculum development, research innovations, and institutional reforms. A widely published scholar in both local and international journals, he has successfully supervised numerous postgraduate students.
The Edo State Government expressed confidence that Prof. Olawale’s academic pedigree and leadership experience will strengthen Edo University’s position as a hub for learning and research excellence in Nigeria and beyond.
