EKSU Alumni Association Holds 12th Global Convention, Honours Governor Oyebanji and Other Eminent Personalities
The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association has held its 12th Global Convention, a two-day event that featured strategic deliberations, reunions, and the recognition of distinguished alumni who have excelled in their respective professions.

The convention began with a General and Business Meeting where the Association’s constitution was thoroughly reviewed and formally endorsed by the Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu, alongside the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Legal Adviser.
The second day commenced with a health check exercise for members before transitioning to the main session, which was graced by notable dignitaries including the Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji; the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye; the Chancellor of EKSU, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Joseph Ayodele. His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, also attended the event among several other eminent guests.
In his welcome address, Ambassador Seyi Idowu commended members for their active participation and reaffirmed the Global Executive Council’s dedication to advancing the Association’s developmental agenda. He urged members to continue supporting EKSU’s growth and promoting unity among alumni worldwide.

A key highlight of the event was a public lecture delivered by Dr. Vincent Olatunji, Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), who spoke on the theme “Beyond the Walls: Building Digital Bridges for Impact.” His lecture underscored the role of digital innovation in driving meaningful progress within the alumni network and society at large.
The convention also featured the induction of distinguished alumni into the EKSU Alumni Hall of Fame. Those honoured included Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye, Dr. Kingsley Kuku (BoT Chairman of the Association), Barr. Tope Adebayo, Mr. Akinsanmi Falaki, Dr. (Chief) Omotayo Alle, and Dr. Soji Ehinlawo, among others.

The event concluded with a vibrant Gala and Dinner Night where additional awards were presented to deserving members. According to Ambassador Seyi Idowu, the convention reaffirmed the Alumni Association’s enduring commitment to excellence, collaboration, and sustained contributions toward the progress of Ekiti State University and th broader society.
