The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, was honoured with the traditional title of Mmiri Doro Edo of Orumba North in recognition of her outstanding academic leadership, human resource development, and contributions to education.

Dr. Awuzie, represented by Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi, Desk Officer of Tetfund at Federal Polytechnic Oko, expressed gratitude to the local government authorities and the traditional council for the recognition. She assured that the Polytechnic would continue to strengthen collaboration with Orumba North for sustainable development.

Chairman of Orumba North Local Government, Barr. Capt. Casmir Nwafor (Rtd.), who also received the title of Ikoro Dikeora Orumba, described the 34 years of the council as a milestone of resilience and progress. He paid tribute to eminent sons of the area, including the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, and Prof. Chukwuemeka Ike.

In his remarks, the Chairman listed his administration’s achievements, including the distribution of 70,000 high-yield cassava stems to farmers, renovation of schools, improved health facilities, and youth empowerment initiatives.

The celebration drew traditional rulers, political leaders, community representatives, and stakeholders from across Orumba North.
