Federal Poly Oko Rector Inaugurates New Deans and HODs, Warns Against Misconduct

The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie has inaugurated nine newly elected Deans of Schools and Heads of Academic departments of the institution on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Mass Communication Conference hall.

The deans and the Heads of Academic departments were on Wednesday, April 22 elected through a peaceful and transparent process.

During the inauguration, the Rector, Dr. Chioma Awuzie expressed deep appreciation to the electoral Committee chaird by the Director Academic Planning, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe for conducting free and fair elections while congratulating the newly elected deans and Heads of departments on their emergence into their new offices.

She described their success and elections as a testament to the confidence their colleagues reposed in their competence, integrity and capacity to lead.

She urged them to uphold the highest ethical standard in discharge of their duties to ensure that their schools and departments remain safe, peaceful and professional environment for both staff and students.

"As Deans and Heads of Academic departments, you are the drivers of academic quality because you are the custodians of standard and the bridge between management and the academic staff and students.

"You must ensure discipline and uphold Institutional policy and encourage collaboration among staff while maintaining transparency, and accountability in all your dealings.

The Rector also urged them to provide quality leadership, foster unity, uphold mutual respect regardless of status, and ensure inclusive administration in the discharge of their duties.

"Lead with humility, listen with empathy and act with courage. Ensure your leadership brings everlasting positive impact.

"This administration remains committed towards repositioning Federal Polytechnic Oko as centre of excellence, innovation and professional relevance.

"Therefore, we maintain zero tolerance to all forms of misconduct which includes: extortion, bribery and sexual harassment as anyone found guilty will face serious consequences including suspension or dismissal as the case may be"

The inauguration featured congratulatory messages and advice from the members of the management present at the event including the council members, Comrade Chibuzo Asomugha and Dr. Helen Nnabuenyi.
