The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, has celebrated a historic 23rd Convocation Ceremony, marking a dual milestone as it formally transitions into the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro. 

During the ceremony, the Acting Vice-Chancellor (Rector), Mukail Akinde, announced the graduation of 8,713 students. The graduating class includes 3,067 Higher National Diploma (HND) and 5,646 National Diploma (ND) recipients across various academic disciplines.

The event was more than a graduation; it served as a platform for high-level recognition, with several distinguished Nigerians receiving Fellowship Awards for their significant contributions to national development and education.

The ceremony was attended by a high-profile audience, including paramount rulers and traditional monarchs, whose presence underscored the institution’s deep roots in its host community. Government officials, alumni, and academic leaders also gathered to witness the transition.

In his convocation address, Rector Akinde emphasized that the shift to a University of Technology status is a strategic move to broaden the horizons for research and technological innovation. He reaffirmed the institution’s core mission of producing graduates defined by both character and technical expertise.
