Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Rector, Dr. Okolobah, Receive Dual Maritime Excellence Awards in Lagos

Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas Bonny and its Rector, Dr. Victor Okolobah, have been honoured with two major awards at the Corporate and Individual Professional Excellence Awards 2026 organised by the Chartered Institute of Maritime Port and Terminal Management Professionals USA.

The recognition ceremony held on 28 March 2026 at BW Starfire Hotel, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, brought together maritime professionals, institutional representatives, and industry stakeholders to recognise excellence in leadership, innovation, and professional practice within the maritime and logistics sector.

Dr. Okolobah was named Outstanding Maritime Administrator, while the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny received the award for Emerging Maritime Institute of the Year. The institution was recognised for its growth trajectory, innovation capacity, and expanding contribution to maritime education and professional development.

The Rector was represented at the event by Dr. Kenneth A. Ibiama of the Department of Transport and Logistics, who received the awards on behalf of the institution.

Organisers stated that the awards were designed to honour individuals and institutions demonstrating strong ethical leadership, operational excellence, and measurable impact in maritime administration and training.

The recognition further positions the institution as an emerging player in maritime-focused technical education, reflecting growing industry engagement and institutional development within Nigeria’s oil and gas and logistics education space.
