Federal Polytechnic Oko Holds Valedictory Session for Late HOD, Dr. Chibike Nwuba
The management, staff, and students of Federal Polytechnic Oko gathered in a solemn valedictory session to honor the memory of the late Dr. Chibike Onyije Nwuba, the former Head of the Department of Marketing, who passed away recently.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, received the remains of the deceased at the institution’s grounds, accompanied by members of the Management Committee and a large delegation from the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), led by the branch chairman, Dr. Fidelis Oduah.
In a poignant tribute, Dr. Awuzie described the late Dr. Nwuba as a "gentle, peaceful, and humble" professional who served the institution with unwavering diligence. She lamented his passing as a "painful and tragic loss" that has left a significant void in the polytechnic community.
Adding to the tributes, the Dean of the School of Business Studies, Dr. Chioma Eni, highlighted Dr. Nwuba’s professional milestones. She specifically noted his tireless efforts in leading the Department of Marketing through a successful National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation exercise. Dr. Eni praised his leadership style, noting that his humility and openness fostered a culture of unity and cooperation among his colleagues.
The Acting Head of the Marketing Department, Dr. Igwenazo, and ASUP Chairman, Dr. Fidelis Oduah, also spoke at the session, describing the late academic as an exceptional individual characterized by his warm interpersonal relationships and commitment to the union.
Following the valedictory session, the funeral procession departed for Dr. Nwuba’s hometown in Ekwulobia, Anambra State, for a funeral service and interment.
The event marked a final farewell to a dedicated educator whose impact on the Department of Marketing and the broader Polytechnic community remains a lasting legacy.
