The Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, has officially unveiled its new tissue paper production line under the brand name Polysoft, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s drive to promote entrepreneurial skills development among students.

The announcement came during an inspection and test-run of the production line at the Entrepreneurial Training Centre on the Polytechnic’s main campus. Rector Eduma Essien expressed satisfaction with the quality of the tissue paper, describing it as unique and of high standard, and revealed that Polysoft and other Polytechnic products would soon be launched into the market.

According to Mrs. Essien, this initiative is part of a deliberate effort to provide practical learning experiences, ensuring students graduate with hands-on entrepreneurial skills that foster self-reliance and economic productivity.

During the inspection, the Rector also visited other facilities within the Centre, including the paint production factory, salon, and shoe-making units, emphasizing that these programmes are designed to equip students with skills that complement their academic achievements. She further highlighted the potential benefits of the Polytechnic’s entrepreneurship initiatives for the host community and Akwa Ibom State, calling for collaboration between the public and the institution to expand and strengthen the programmes.

The Rector was accompanied by Dr. Emmanuel Esomonu (Bursar), Mr. Ehikioya Uduebor (Librarian), and other members of the Polytechnic management team.

Manasseh Umoette, Acting Director of Communication, documented the event, reinforcing the Polytechnic’s commitment to transforming academic knowledge into practical, market-ready solutions.
