Federal University Lokoja Achieves Significant Growth Under Professor Akinwumi's Leadership

The Federal University Lokoja (FUL) has recorded a remarkable growth in student enrollment under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Olayemi Akinwumi. Since assuming office in February 2021, the university's student population has grown from approximately 6,000 to over 25,000.

The university has expanded its academic programs, introducing new faculties and courses, including Medicine, Nursing Science, Engineering, Law, and Agriculture. The number of undergraduate programs has increased from 43 to 58, and the number of faculties has grown from 4 to 10.

The university's matriculation figures have consistently increased, with the latest matriculation ceremony. In 2025, the university matriculated 7,571 students, the highest admission in its history. The university's strategic location and diverse programs have contributed to its rapid growth, making it one of the fastest-growing universities in Nigeria.
