The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to host Her Excellency, Madame Monica Hage Geingos, former First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, alongside a high-level delegation, on a strategic courtesy visit scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to host Her Excellency, Madame Monica Hage Geingos, former First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, alongside a high-level delegation, on a strategic courtesy visit scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

The visit forms part of a six-day engagement programme in Ogun State and is expected to deepen continental collaboration in education, leadership development, agriculture, and sustainable growth initiatives across Africa.

According to the university, the delegation will be received by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, alongside the University Management, during a formal engagement focused on strengthening partnerships in food security, agricultural transformation, youth empowerment, capacity building, and regional development.

The discussions will also highlight FUNAAB’s ongoing research innovations, academic excellence, and strategic interventions that continue to position the institution as one of Africa’s leading specialised universities in agriculture and development-oriented education.

Madame Monica Geingos, who served as Namibia’s Third First Lady from 2015 to 2025, is widely recognised as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and development advocate with strong focus areas in youth empowerment, women’s economic inclusion, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and governance reform. Through initiatives such as the One Economy Foundation, she has contributed significantly to social and economic development efforts across Namibia and other African regions.

Her delegation’s itinerary also includes engagements with former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, as well as the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, alongside traditional rulers including the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Michael Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, and the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII.

Additional scheduled visits include selected institutions and cultural centres within Ogun State, aimed at strengthening cultural diplomacy, leadership exchange, and institutional collaboration.
